The explosion in urban growth presents many opportunities and challenges to our environment and our food systems. Many cities are looking for ways to feed themselves sustainably and to create a livable and healthy environment for urban dwellers. To support these developments and explore the potential of urban farming, WUR initiated the Urban Greenhouse Challenge. In this international competition, students from universities worldwide are challenged to design, in cooperation with partner companies such as Codema, an iconic and circular urban greenhouse for a metropole in China. This urban greenhouse is to produce safe and healthy food for the local neighborhood and commercial markets, whilst stimulating a healthy lifestyle and interactions with city dwellers.
Codema believes in its ability to create a healthier and more sustainable world for future generations. This is what drives us. We develop essential, custom-made horticulture solutions. Using the right technology enables us to solve the major global food production challenges. In everything we do, we believe in challenging the status quo. We believe in thinking differently. The way we challenge the status quo is by bringing solutions to the market that are well designed, easy to expand and user friendly. Every single day. Because Your World is Our World.
Codema believes in a solution that fits in our modern way of life to help solve the world food problem. Working together with the next generation is essential for Codema. Young, talented and innovative people are our inspiration and our way forward in order to realize what we believe in.
